“Ars-Poetika: Let Me Entertain You”, Guest Lecture on Guy Zagursky for the “Curator’s Choice” course held at the Institute for Israeli Art at the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yafo (in Hebrew).
For the Curator’s Choice course, held at the Institute for Israeli Art at the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yafo, 12 senior Israeli curators were invited to select one artist who is especially close to their hearts. I selected Guy Zagursky who well represents my curatorial profile. His work embodies the principle values that activate me both as a viewer and as a curator: on the one hand, brilliance, attractiveness, accessibility, physicality, sensuality, and powerful visuals reward, and on the other hand, intelligence and depth of thought. Most importantly his work is charged with a special kind of humor, as well as a philosophical Zen master’s view of the human condition.
