A brochure essay for Power Games: Contemporary Art from Poland, Haifa Museum of Art
January – June 2009
The exhibition Power Games presented a range of works created by six prominent visual artists currently working in Poland, and featured members of three different generations: Grzegorz Klaman, Artur Żmijewski, Zuzanna Janin, Janek Simon, Hubert Czerepok and Norman Leto. The text for the brochure included an introduction on the Polish vivid scene and individual texts on the six artists. The varied approaches to representation of violence – which range from the conceptual to the symbolic, poetic and narrative – embodied a ludic element that is related to the use of force.
